Lessons From a Baby

Baby J and I spend a lot of time together, so it’s no wonder that I’ve got baby on the brain these days. I’ve been thinking about him and what he has taught me in these past 6 months. Big lessons from a little bitty (or not so little bitty) thing. Here are a few insights I’ve gleaned from him over these last 6 months.

**Smile. All the time! It makes people feel so good.

**Be flexible. Life doesn’t always happen the way we want it to. Trust in the people you love the most and know that everything is going to be ok.

**Greet your family with gusto in the morning. Hug, squeal, laugh, and celebrate being together. Light up when they walk into a room. This includes husbands too! The impact it has on the hearts of others is immeasurable.

**Work hard! Don’t expect things to be made easier for you. The lesson is in the work itself, not in a short cut. When you achieve your goal, don’t brag or boast. Smile quietly and move on to the next thing.

**Let people know when you need help. Receive their help with open arms and a grateful heart.

**Try new things!

**Let yourself be held. Emotionally, physically, and spiritually. It’s restorative and will always help you to get back on track.

**Feel, really feel, the wind on your face. Pay attention and be affected by the beauty and wonder around you.

**Laugh. Even if people are not that funny, laugh anyway. It makes them feel good.

**Look people in the eyes as often as you can, especially children. Deep connections are born there, and little spirits crave it.

**Expect the best in people. Give them grace when you don’t see it. Always remember they are trying their best.

**Listen and watch more. Talk less.

**Never, ever underestimate the power of connecting with someone you love.

Thank goodness for the littlest ones. May we always remember that they teach us way more than we ever teach them.

Find the joy~
